FrikiDoctor Spanish Spoiler on YouTube

On May 7, Tech Insider reported that a man known as the "Spanish Spoiler," or FrikiDoctor, was uploading videos to YouTube in which he detailed events from "Game of Thrones" episodes— two full days before they aired to the public.

Aware of the channel, HBO filed DMCA claims of copyright infringement to YouTube. Due to the set-up of YouTube's claim system, the videos were removed within hours of HBO's claim.

Now, YouTube has restored all of the videos.

Back when they were first removed, FrikiDoctor turned to a subreddit called /r/FreeFolk for advice.

Many "Game of Thrones" subreddits have moderators who directly prohibit the sharing of pirated material or leaks from upcoming episode. /r/FreeFolk is more of an open-dialogue community, made up of subscribers who believe discussion and sharing of leaks, spoilers, and predictions should be fair game.

So when FrikiDoctor alerted the subreddit of the YouTube video removals, many Redditors believed HBO's actions were not justified

FrikiDoctor's YouTube videos contain no footage, imagery, or visuals from "Game of Thrones." They are videos of FrikiDoctor himself speaking on camera, detailing his "predictions" for the upcoming episodes in Spanish. A Redditor will often translate and summarize his videos into a text post. Days later, when the episode airs, the plot is revealed to be exactly what FrikiDoctor says it would be. This has been the routine for all three episodes of season six so far.

Spanish Spoiler Frikidoctor title YouTube On May 9, FrikiDoctor wrote to /r/FreeFolk: "Youtube has restored my deleted clips!"

The full post read:

Hi everyone! YouTube has analyzed my counter notifications, has decided that the claims against me were invalid, and also have removed the strikes from my account. So basically, freedom of speech has ben restored! Thanks everyone for your support!

Business Insider's Rob Price reached out to legal experts  in order to get a sense of HBO's legal rights when it comes to copyright claims on FrikiDoctor's videos. "Copyright protects an expression of the idea, not an idea itself, and while plot points might be an idea, the expression of that idea is protected," Dr. Andres Guadamuztold Business Insider. "Characters, dialogue, plot twists ... all of these are protected by copyright."

But Professor Lilian Edwards of Stathclyde University noted that HBO's choice to use YouTube's DMCA system may have been strategic due to its speed. Filing a claim against FrikiDoctor for NDA or a breach of confidence (given that his source is clearly connected to the series in some way) would take longer.

"A DMCA takedown ... is enforced automatically by Google, i.e. YouTube — so [that's] probably why they have used this," Edwards told BI. "If it depended only on confidence or contract I think (though I am not a US civil lawyer) than an injunction would need to be sought in a court — time consuming especially when spoilers are out..!"

We'll have to wait until this upcoming weekend to see whether or not FrikiDoctor uploads a new video with episode four details, and whether or not HBO files a new DMCA claim.

Jeff Cusson, SVP of Corporate Affairs at HBO, said in a statement to BI that "HBO aggressively protects its programming, but we find it counterproductive to publicly discuss specific anti-theft tactics."

Daenerys Targaryen and Drogon Game of Thrones

The ongoing battle between HBO and a man often referred to as the "Spanish Spoiler" may be coming to a close.

On May 7, Tech Insider reported that a YouTube channel called FrikiDoctor had been uploading videos describing the exact plot details of "Game of Thrones" episodes days before HBO aired the show

HBO filed claims against the videos using YouTube's DMCA system, much to the frustration of fans who believed they had a right to the information FrikiDoctor was providing. Though the videos were temporarily removed, they were all restored to FrikiDoctor's YouTube channel on May 9.

In an email to Tech Insider, FrikiDoctor (a real-world doctor named Jose Señaris) said he was done uploading the spoiler videos.

"I just have one thing to say: no more predictions in my channel," Señaris wrote. "Just chapter and teaser analyses, like every other fan channel. So now that the clips that were taken down are restored, HBO has nothing to worry about. I never thought that a really small channel like mine would gather so much attention, and I'm really overwhelmed."

FrikiDoctor Spanish Spoiler on YouTubeThe statement will surely disappoint those fans who have become accustomed to reading about "Game of Thrones" events before they happen on television. A popular home for Señaris' content was the subreddit /r/FreeFolk, which has grown by more than 2,000 subscribers in the days following news coverage of the "Spanish Spoiler."

Though people had raised the question of whether or not HBO had the legal right to request the removal of Señaris' videos, the argument will not be applied to any of his future uploads. We have yet to see if HBO will take any further action against Señaris for the three videos which are now back on YouTube.

New 'Game of Thrones' episode titles hint at a major fan theory

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones," including speculation and theories of future events.

Most "Game of Thrones" fans know by now that episode titles have many hidden meanings, often relating to multiple storylines within the series. Spotted by Watchers on the Wall, HBO has released the titles for episodes six and seven — "Blood of My Blood" and "The Broken Man."

Let's start with a guess at the focus of episode six, "Blood of My Blood." This is a saying often used between Dothraki bloodriders and their khals. Each leader of a khalasar (the khal) typically has three bloodriders. They act as a combination of brother, bodyguard, and confidant.

So it's safe to assume we'll see the Dothraki and Daenerys as a central focus of this episode. We know Jorah and Daario are on their way to try and find Daenerys. Interestingly, Jorah referred to Daenerys as "blood of my blood" back in season one. When he discovered her unharmed and with baby dragons after she walked into Khal Drogo's funeral pyre, "blood of my blood" were the first words out of his mouth. We'd bet Jorah finally catches up with Daenerys by this episode.

Daenerys Targaryen and baby dragon Game of ThronesEpisode seven is called "The Broken Man." This title circles back to a much-hyped theory known as Cleganebowl. A central pillar of the theory assumes that the Hound (Sandor Clegane) is very much alive and will return to the series as part of the Faith. The basis for this theory comes partially from a speech made in the books by a character named Septon Meribald.

Meribald's speech talks of "broken men" and the impact of war. Later in the same conversation, Meribald gives clues that the Hound may still be alive. If the Cleganebowl theory is true, then the Hound is going to return to the series and fight against his brother (the Mountain aka Gregor Clegane) in a trial by combat

We previously believed the Hound's return may happen in episode four, "Book of the Stranger," but maybe the showrunners are holding out until episode seven for this big reveal. Now we can't be sure, but the hype is still strong.

"Book of the Stranger" airs Sunday May 16 at 9 p.m. EST.

Kevan Lannister Game of Thrones

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

"Game of Thrones" has more characters than the average viewer can keep track of, so the reappearance of Kevan Lannister in Sunday's episode may have caught a few fans off guard.

Cersei, Jaime, and zombie-Gregor visited the small council meeting, where Kevan Lannister was seated as Hand of the King. Maester Pycelle summoned him to come and serve on the Small Council when Cersei was imprisoned.

Kevan is Tywin Lannister's brother — Cersei and Jaime's uncle. He was first introduced in season one, where he worked with Tywin to help lead the Lannister army in their war against Robb Stark.

Kevan Lannister and Tywin Game of ThronesKevan's son is Lancel Lannister — the former squire to Robert Baratheon who had "relations" with Cersei (his cousin) and helped her killed Robert. While out on a hunt with King Robert, Lancel supplied him with more and more wine in order to dull his senses and reflexes. So when Robert finally tried to kill a boar, the boar attacked and mortally wounded him.

Now Lancel is a member of the Faith Militant, something Kevan has difficulty understanding.

Lancel Lannister Game of ThronesViewers saw Kevan's character in full-force at the beginning of season five, after his brother Tywin had died and Cersei tried to bring Kevan onto the small council as Master of War.  The conversation they have is pretty much fantastic from start to finish, so we've transcribed it here for you:

"No man living better deserves the title," Cersei said with a false sweetness.

"That is kind of you to say," Kevan replied. "I would like to hear it from the king himself."

[Tommen is the king, but Cersei had been effectively ruling on his behalf ever since Joffrey died.]

"The king is very busy at this moment," she told Kevan.

"He should be here, learning what it means to rule," Kevan insisted.

"He is learning," Cersei said. "On this occasion and in his capacity as ruler, he’s asked me to speak on his behalf."

Cersei and Kevan Lannister Game of ThronesThen Kevan really lets Cersei have it. He recognized early on that Cersei's aim was to manipulate her son and maintain background control of the realm. Kevan is unimpressed by Cersei.

"I returned to the capital to pay respects to my brother, and to you," he told her. "And to serve the king. I did not return to the capital to serve as your puppet, to watch you stack the small council with sycophants. Sending your own brother away so he won’t be present …"

"My brother has left the capital to lead a sensitive diplomatic mission," Cersei interrupts.

"What mission?"

"That is not your concern as Master of War."

"I do not recognize your authority to dictate what is and is not my concern. You are the Queen Mother. Nothing more."

Kevan then stands, and moves to leave the room.

"You would abandon your king in his time of need?" Cersei asks him.

"If he wants to send for me, I will be waiting for him. At Casterly Rock."

Kevan Lannister season six Game of ThronesFast forward to the latest season six episode and Kevan is now ruling over the small council. Cersei lost her seat of power when she was imprisoned. From the sound of it, Kevan has no intention of allowing Cersei back in control.

In Sunday's episode, "Oathbreaker," Cersei and Jaime tried to crash the Small Council meeting. When he realized it would be impossible to make them leave (seeing as they had zombie-Gregor there to protect them) Kevan simply ended the meeting and left the room.

Clearly Kevan Lannister is here to stay until Cersei figures out how to get rid of him. Will he be able to make an impact on the crumbling state of King's Landing? The Faith Militant have seen no significant resistance yet. Kevan could be the man to finally help Tommen intervene, even if it means going against his own son.

'Game of Thrones' author George R.R. Martin just posted a chapter from the next book online

george rr martin 2011

George R.R. Martin thrilled fans by posting a sample chapter from his much-anticipated new book.

Martin, whose "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels are the basis for HBO's "Game of Thrones,"posted a chapter from "Winds of Winter" on his site.

It's told from the point of view of the character Princess Arianne, who isn't part of the HBO show yet. But there may be some interest in the chapter, the first in about a year, for show fans.

"You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in 'Winds of Winter'? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait," Martin wrote on his site.

The Sand Snakes have been pivotal on the show, which most recently angered book fans with the direction it took the band of warrior women. They killed Doran Martell (Alexander Siddig), who ruled Dorne, and his son on the sixth season's premiere episode.

Doran had a much more significant role in Martin's novels. He had a long-standing plot to marry his son to Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). And to make the kill even worse for book fans, the Sand Snakes wanted to crown Myrcella Baratheon their queen. It doesn't make sense that they would kill her and kill the Martells.

The showrunners are clearly veering from the books on that one, and the purists aren't happy. But possibly their anger will be quelled by the newly posted chapter.

All eyes are on Martin and his progress in finishing this next book. "Thrones" producers have moved beyond Martin's source text on the current season. That said, Martin wants to make sure that posting this new chapter doesn't get fans' hopes up.

"And no, just to spike any bulls--- rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done," he also wrote. "Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day..."

Read the new chapter at Martin's official website.

daario and jorah game of thrones

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

The upcoming fourth episode of "Game of Thrones" season six is titled "Book of the Stranger," and HBO has just given fans a first look at what's to come.

From Tyrion in Meereen to Theon's return to the Iron Islands, looks like we're in for yet another great episode.

No sign of Jon or the North, but we know that Brienne and Sansa will be featured based on the released preview.

Scroll down for a look at the six images released by HBO:

Daario and Jorah are on a ridge, looking out at ... something. Probably Vaes Dothrak, where Daenerys is being held. Are they going to intervene in this episode?

Daenerys is still inside the temple of the Dosh Khaleen. In the last episode, we saw that she was told that the khals would decide her fate. She doesn't look pleased. Seeing her in Dothraki clothing is jarring.

Finally! Littlefinger is back. He's been absent for several episodes. Looks like he's back in the Vale, but to what end? Trying to get the lords of the Vale to head north and support Sansa, most likely.

Jon Snow Season Six Game of Thrones

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

If you're like most "Game of Thrones" fans, then you probably watched season six episode three with an enormous sense of satisfaction. Not only did we get confirmation that Jon Snow has come back to life, but it was the first time we actually saw him walking and talking.

There are minor changes to the Jon we know and love, though. He seems a little more sad, and more resolute not to waste time convincing others of what he believes to be the right choice — ally with the wildlings and focus on the White Walkers.

Jon also announced he was leaving the Night's Watch, having technically fulfilled his vows by dying.

But there was a physical change to Jon as well, thanks to the haircut Melisandre gave him during the resurrection ritual. Vanity Fair's "Game of Thrones" columnist Joanna Robinson spotted the significance of this change:

He's going back to his real family — the Starks. Not only did Jon's hair go back to its shorter styling from season one, but he's no longer wearing a massive black fur cloak on his shoulders. This reveals his regular clothes — which look exactly like his outfit from the pilot episode (except in all black, of course).

Here's what Jon looked like in season one episode one, "Winter is Coming."

Jon Snow season one

And here he is at the very end of season six episode three, "Oathbreaker." Notice his leather jerkin, and the small turtleneck-eqsue undershirt. Really all that's different is his beard (and fancy Valyrian sword).

Jon Snow season six

Details like this are what makes "Game of Thrones" such an immersive series. Upon first watch, clearly Jon's "look" was different. But it might have been hard to pinpoint just what was different, aside from his new 'do.

The last time we saw Jon without his epic cloak, he was wearing a different type of leather overshirt, with longer sleeves and ties on the front. This was Lord Commander Jon Snow — keeper of peace and loyal Night's Watch member.

Jon Snow season fiveNow he's free to do as he pleases. Jon's journey from Winterfell to Castle Black is complete. And this return to his Stark origins — in both attitude and dress — is an exciting sight. We know Sansa is heading to Castle Black with the hope of finding refuge in Jon. The Stark family is gathering again, and winter is coming.

We can't wait to see what this new Jon Snow gets up to in season six. The fourth episode of season six, "Book of the Stranger" airs Sunday May 15 at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.

Warning: This post contains spoilers for season six of "Game of Thrones."

Though fans had long speculated that Jon Snow would be resurrected in season six of "Game of Thrones," many were still in suspense over the fate of Kit Harington’s character.

But one very lucky "Game of Thrones" fan learned the truth about Jon Snow’s fate long before the second episode of season six: a cop.

"I was driving back from my parent’s house, and I was driving too fast actually — I was being a bit naughty," Harington said to Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show on Friday. "I was going over the speed limit, and I feel the sirens go off behind me."

The cop stopped him and immediately recognized the English actor. A huge "Game of Thrones" fan, he had one simple question: Does Jon Snow live?

"He said, 'Look, there’s two ways we can do this: You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you in, or you can tell me whether you live in the next season,'" Harington told Fallon.

"I looked at him and went, 'I’m alive next season.' And he says, 'On your way, Lord Commander,'" Harington laughed.

bran nights king

We'll finally get another peek at the Night's King and the White Walkers on next week's episode of "Game of Thrones." HBO has released the preview for episode five, "The Door," of the show and it looks like we'll get another big vision from Bran Stark.

Tyrion and Varys will meet face to face with who appears to be a new Red Woman in Meereen. As well, we'll finally see Sansa reunite with Littlefinger and more of Arya and Jaqen H'ghar.

Check out the teaser below:

Let's break it down:

Sansa is finally going to be reunited with Littlefinger once again, but he doesn't look so pleased at the confrontation. You bet she's going to ask Littlefinger if he knew Ramsay was a monster when he left her at Winterfell.

Jaqen H'ghar asks (presumably) Arya if death only comes for the wicked. We then see him give her a mysterious small bottle. Is it poison to carry out an assassin mission?

Yara's fighting to claim her right as heir to the Iron Islands. Sure, she has her brother Theon on her side (the actual rightful heir), but we're sure her uncle Euron Greyjoy is waiting to conveniently show his face.

Over in Meereen, Tyrion and Varys get an interesting visitor. It looks like another Red Woman. Check out the necklace. It looks just like Melisandre's!

Finally, Bran's having another vision. This time he may be staying in his vision too long. Meera appears to have a tough time waking him up. What has him so entranced?

He's facing a giant horde of wildlings.

Oh. And that's not good. Hey Night's King. Long time no see. It looks like the Night's King can actually see Bran. He's going to want to wake up.

sansaWarning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

Sunday's "Game of Thrones" episode was another jam-packed hour, with action in Vaes Dothrak from Daenerys, the High Sparrow in King's Landing, and news from Littlefinger in the Vale. But Castle Black held one of the most touching moments in the season so far.

The reunion of Jon Snow and Sansa Stark was a highly anticipated moment — the eldest remnants of the family that once ruled Winterfell. Though we know Sansa and Jon were both raised together as half-siblings, this is actually the first time we've seen them speak in the history of the show

jon snow sansa hugBack in season one, we were introduced to all of the Stark children during the pilot episode. Bran, Rickon, Robb, and Jon all practice archery in the courtyard. But Sansa and Arya are learning to sew, that is, until Arya cuts in and interrupts archery practice to show off. While Arya gets a moment with the Stark men, Sansa is never featured one-on-one with any of her brothers.

Jon Bran and Robb Winterfell Game of ThronesJon and Arya have a close bond — he's the one who had Winterfell's metal worker make Needle for her. We saw them have a heartfelt goodbye when Jon leaves for Castle Black and Arya is sent to King's Landing with Ned and Sansa. In the books, Arya and Jon often think of one another and hope to reunite one day.

Jon Snow and Arya Stark season one Game of ThronesBut Sansa? That's a different story. In both the books and the show, she doesn't really interact with any of her brothers before leaving for King's Landing. She's very swept up in the idea of being queen one day, of marrying a handsome southern prince and living her days out in the capital. While the rest of the Stark children have always closely identified with the North, Sansa was more of a southern girl in the beginning.

Sansa acknowledged their differences in Sunday's episode. She admitted to being indifferent toward Jon in their youth, and asked his forgiveness. Jon brushed it away, but forgave her all the same.

Sansa Stark season one Game of ThronesNow Sansa has seen her family murdered and betrayed time and time again, and has realized just how important her roots are in the North. Sansa and Jon have reunited, the two oldest remaining siblings from the Stark family. And for the first time, they could begin working together towards a common goal — taking back the North.

Sansa's plan is clear — take back Winterfell from the Ramsay Bolton. Jon is reluctant, and even had a brief outburst about wanting no part of another war. He's weary of fighting ... but what is the alternative? Sansa points this out. There is no safety in Westeros for either of them, not while Ramsay Bolton is alive and ruling.

Jon Snow Sansa Stark castle black Game of ThronesAnd, of course, Ramsay Bolton is the person who finally convinces Jon he cannot rest. A threatening (and graphic) letter arrived from the new Lord of Winterfell at Castleblack addressed to Jon. Once Jon and Sansa learn of Rickon's capture, the way forward is clear. They will fight to reunite the northern houses, and answer Ramsay's threat.

Sadly, we'll have to wait until the coming episodes to see this plan in action. But the Starks are in position to finally take the vengeance they deserve. Stay hype, fans.

brienne of tarth

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

"Game of Thrones" season six episode four had many satisfying moments, from an unburnt Daenerys Targaryen to the reunion of Sansa Stark with her brother Jon Snow.

But fans loved one smaller moment from this episode, specifically the wildling Tormund Giantsbane making eyes at Brienne of Tarth at Castle Black, first in the courtyard and then over a slab of meat at the dinner table.

tormund

And fans are loving this potential coupling.

Many of them are pointing out that the pairing of Brienne with Tormund would be one of the most badass couples in Westeros.

So how likely is this coupling? Though it probably won't happen, it is a wonderful idea that the showrunners will hopefully play with at least once more in the coming episodes.

While the Free Folk are known as "savages, raiders, rapers, more beast than man," as Bowen Marsh tells Jon Snow in "A Dance with Dragons," Ygritte, the wildling love interest of Jon Snow, explains that the women are actually just as independent as the men and are expected to defend themselves.

The women wildlings actually have a lot more power and independence than most women in Westeros, both in the books and on the show, which is something Brienne would appreciate.

We also know Brienne is a fierce warrior and Tormund seems drawn to her strength. It would be wholly satisfying to see Brienne wooed by a man who appreciates her as a fighter.

But don't get your hopes up. We know from previews that Brienne will be journeying around the Riverlands with Podrick while Tormund will likely be sticking close to Jon Snow to lend him his army of 2,000 wildlings, so the pair will be drawn apart in the coming episodes.

But maybe after the White Walkers are defeated and Westeros is peaceful, we’ll finally see the Bromund/Tormienne romance we all deserve.

Lancel Lannister and High Sparrow Game of Thrones Helen Sloan HBO

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" season six.

Sunday's "Game of Thrones" episode made it clear the High Sparrow and Faith Militant are powerhouses in King's Landing, and won't be going down without a fight. The High Sparrow played good-cop with Margaery, while Cersei and Tommen plotted ways to destroy him. But it won't be easy.

So how did the High Sparrow manage such an effortless power grab? It may be surprising to see the High Sparrow and his faith-driven army go up against Cersei and Tommen for some viewers, especially given how ruthless we know Cersei can be.

Turning to the books for more context will help — especially when you realize how much support the High Sparrow has from the common people of Westeros.

In the books, readers are given several point-of-view chapters that take place in the Riverlands. This area of Westeros was particularly devastated by the War of the Five Kings between Joffrey Baratheon (Lannister), Robb Stark, Renly, Baratheon, Stannis Baratheon, and Balon Greyjoy. Large swaths of the Riverlands were burned, wrecked by battles or roving bands of Lannister soldiers who pillaged, raped, and killed at will.

The show gave a peek at this through Arya's season four journey, as she and the Hound stumbled upon many inns and farms in ruin, their owners dead or dying.

Arya Stark Game of Thrones nothingSo when septons (religious leaders of the Faith of the Seven) were being killed, and devout followers of the Faith watched as their homes were ripped apart, it was only a matter of time before the commoners became disillusioned with their king.

So, along comes the High Sparrow. In the books we're given hints here and there that a group of radical religious people are coalescing, all with the intention of supporting and protecting the poor and reversing the devastating effects of the war. Then the existing High Septon in King's Landing is killed, and a group of clergy gather to select a new leader, not unlike the way new popes are chosen in the real world.

But — the High Sparrow and his followers essentially storm the selection meeting and force the committee to choose the High Sparrow as the new High Septon.

High Sparrow Game of Thrones Macall B. PolayThe previous High Septon was a fan of comforts — jewels, fancy clothing, nice food, and the like. When the High Sparrow took over, he immediately sold the Faith's valuables in order to raise funds. This money was then used to feed and clothe the poor. These actions won favor with the commonfolk, while Cersei and the royal family began to look more and more selfish and uncaring of the people in their realm.

Cersei, short-minded as she is sometimes, sees the High Sparrow and his followers as a nuisance — not a threat. But she is at least aware enough to realize she needs their help. In the books, it's clear to Cersei that she needs this new High Sparrow to publicly support Tommen's claim to the throne, especially amid the (true) rumors that he is a bastard born of incest.

Plus, in the books, the crown has a huge monetary debt owed to the Faith. Having the High Sparrow on her side would help mitigate that problem. So what does she do? Cersei gives the High Sparrow an army.

In the show, Cersei's motivation to arm the Faith Militant seems to come only from her desire to lock Margaery in prison. Either way, it's a bold move that comes back to bite Cersei.

Cersei and High Sparrow Game of Thrones Macall B. PolayThe Faith Militant is a military branch completely controlled by the High Septon (or Sparrow) and devoted to the Faith of the Seven and carrying out the gods' justice. They haven't been an active group for over 200 years, however.

Cersei's move to re-instate the Faith Militant was an impulsive decision which winds up handing far more power to the High Sparrow than she initially realizes. With the royal decree in place, the Faith Militant has the ability to put the crown in check — which we've seen play out in the imprisonment of both Cersei and Margaery (in the show AND in the books).

Cersei obviously thought she could manipulate the High Sparrow, but ultimately underestimated his devout faith.

Lancel Lannister carved forehead Game of Thrones Helen Sloan HBONow there's little Cersei and King Tommen can do to usurp the High Sparrow. At least, not without having the common folk rebel against them entirely. The High Sparrow's immersion with the poor (who are numerous) puts Cersei in a bind. Sure, she and Tommen could incite a full-blown war against the Faith, but the religion of the Seven is widely practiced in southern Westeros. Going against the High Sparrow would be political suicide.

Book readers aren't completely sure what the High Sparrow's endgame is, aside from purging King's Landing of those less committed to the Faith and more intent on selfish power and riches.

Based on Sunday's episode and the conversation between Olenna Tyrell, Cersei, Kevan, and Jaime, we'll see a clash of armies soon. Cersei plans to have the Tyrell army invade King's Landing in order to stop Margaery's "walk of shame." Viewers can't be sure that this is all Cersei wants. After all, altruism isn't her greatest strength. But the fight between the rich houses of Westeros and the High Sparrow will be interesting to watch nonetheless.

There were some major (and much-anticipated) reunions on this week's episode of "Game of Thrones."

The biggest one for fans finally found part of the remaining Starks coming face-to-face after fleeing Winterfell. Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) met up again at Castle Black.

They weren't the only brother-and-sister pair to meet up again after great struggle. Imprisoned Margaery (Natalie Dormer) was rewarded for her calm demeanor and knowledge of the ancient text. So she got to join her brother Loras (Finn Jones) in his cell for an emotional conversation.

Meanwhile, Daario (Michiel Huisson) and Jorah (Iain Glen) finally made it to the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen, where Daenarys (Emilia Clarke) was about to go on trial in front of the Dothraki leadership. Well, that got heated...

That's the stuff you couldn't help but notice, but there's always plenty that you didn't catch.

Here are five important things you probably missed on this week's "Game of Thrones":

Sansa and Jon's first words to each other.

Yes, Sansa and Jon were raised as half-siblings at Winterfell, but have they ever actually spoken to each other? The answer logically is, of course, yes. We know that from the episode when Sansa asked Jon to forgive her for treating him cruelly while growing up.

But would it surprise you to hear that they've never spoken to each other on-screen in the history of the show? If so, put your surprise face on. This episode was the first time they've exchanged dialogue. Those history-making words were Sansa's: "Good soup."

Tyrion's slavery compromise was inspired by Abraham Lincoln.

If you felt like there was something very familiar about Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) offering a compromise of phasing out slavery over seven years, then you were on to something: It was inspired by our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.

"One of the historical examples we looked to while writing these scenes was, oddly enough, Abe Lincoln," showrunner David Benioff said in the "Inside the Episode" segment. "Abe Lincoln was trying desperately to stave off a civil war between the North and the South, and he wasn't ready to get rid of slavery quite as quickly as people think."

Did Osha go too soon?

Osha (Natalia Tena), the faithful Stark servant and dangerous Wildling, gave her life trying to kill Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) on this episode. Her plan to seduce and stab him dead went awry. At this point, we're not sure if George R.R. Martin gave the showrunners a little bit of information as to how she died, or if that was simply the show's plan. At any rate, she is still alive and protecting Rickon Stark in the books. Guess we'll have to see where Martin takes her.

Fans are furious about a change 'Game of Thrones' made to Daenerys' character

Daenerys Targaryen fire vaes dothrak Game of ThronesWarning: There are spoilers ahead for Sunday's episode of "Game of Thrones" season six.

The fourth episode of "Game of Thrones" season six ended in a literal blaze of glory, as Daenerys Targaryen showed her would-be Dothraki overlords that they were mistaken to take her prisoner. Despite the general badassery of the scene — Daenerys killing every powerful khal in existence with one fell swoop — some fans were left annoyed.

Daenerys managed to kill the khals by locking them inside the temple of Vaes Dothrak and lighting the place on fire. While all the men burned alive, Daenerys emerged from the hut unscathed (though naked, because fire burns clothes just not Daenerys).

Daenerys Targaryen fire Game of ThronesYes, this happened once before in the series — the season one finale when Daenerys' dragons were born. But author George R.R. Martin, the creator of "A Song of Ice and Fire" (the books on which the show is based) has explicitly stated that Daenerys' survival in the flames was a one time thing.

Targaryens are not immune to fire, not according to Martin. Clearly the showrunners have taken a different approach, and some fans are not pleased.

NowThis editor Matt Saccaro tweeted out the discrepancy.

Other book readers were peeved as well.

As far back as 1998, author George R.R. Martin has made a point to emphasize that Targaryens, including Daenerys, are not immune to fire. Yes — she survived walking into a gigantic pyre and emerged unscathed. This was a one-time occurrence, according to Martin, and had less to do with her Targaryen surname than it did with the effect of blood magic she was invoking.

Khal Drogo's pyre was more than just a cremation — Daenerys was burning the witch Mirri Maz Duur. This blood sacrifice, along with the magic of her dragon's eggs, created a perfect storm of sorcery that left her unburnt.

Of course it's natural for the show to take a different course from the books — this has already happened with several significant characters such as Sansa's marriage to Ramsay or the Sand Snake's mutiny in Dorne. The immunity-to-fire thing may be a particular thorn in book readers' side simply because we've been telling show-only fans that this is wrong for years.

Redditor adziki wrote out a hypothetical conversation which illustrates this point:

Wife: Oh, so Danaerys will just burn it down and be fine since she's fireproof.
Me: Well, she's not really fireproof, just a one time thing
*Dany burns the hut down and walks out unburnt*
Me: oh goddammit

Daenerys fire Dosh Khaleen Dothraki Game of ThronesWe even published a list of common misconceptions among "Game of Thrones" fans, and Daenerys assumed immunity to fire was one of them.

Redditor StannisIsNoMannis brought a sense of logic to the discussion, though. "The hardest thing to swallow was Dany being fireproof," they wrote. "That said, unlike with the books, we never had [the showrunners] explicitly show us that the season one miracle was a one-time event. We brought that assumption in from the books, when it's perfectly fair to assume that it's just a [Targaryen] power in the show."

This is true. The show has given far more indication that Daenerys is extra-tolerant (and now outright immune) to heat and flames. Early in season one, we saw her enter scalding hot baths and handle the dragon eggs when they were scorching. This scene is just confirmation of what show-only fans would have been picking up on.

daenerys dragon Game of ThronesPlus, seeing Daenerys take control of the Dothraki without the help of Drogon was a surprising twist. Many viewers — myself included — believed her dragon would be the key to escaping Vaes Dothrak. But instead we got the powerfully independent Daenerys we've come to love, one who loves her dragons but doesn't depend on them for her strength. She is literally the Unburnt, just as she's said all along.

Now she has the loyalty of the entire Dothraki people — not just one khalasar. When they see her walk out of the flames, naked and unharmed like a god, everyone bows to her. She's right back where she ended season one, in command of some of the greatest fighters of Essos.

Hopefully this time she can use them to start heading west again, toward the Iron Throne she so desperately wishes to claim.

Tormund Giantsbane wildling Game of Thrones Warning: Spoilers ahead if you have not watched Sunday's "Game of Thrones" episode.

"Game of Thrones" season six continued Sunday with a powerhouse episode titled "The Book of the Stranger."

We saw Daenerys' epic fire immunity powers, a battle of manipulation in King's Landing, and several incredible Castle Black scenes.

But among the meltdown-worthy moments were some callbacks and costume changes you might not have noticed.

Scroll down for a look at the four things you probably missed.

Jon Snow's new outfit is actually blue and brown Stark armor.

Last episode we saw Jon easing back into his Stark roots with an outfit similar to his season one getup— but it was still all black. Now in "The Book of the Stranger" we saw Jon finally embrace the full Stark colors.

Here's Ned Stark in season one, wearing the same brown padded gambeson with a blue undercoat.

This new season six Jon is looking more and more like the man who raised him.

The eyes Tormund made at Brienne were impossible to miss — but you may have forgotten about a certain song associated with the woman warrior.

Fans were delighted at the thought of this pairing, seeing as Brienne has probably never been looked at in this manner by a man before. There was another layer to the interaction, and it comes in the form of a song.

Game of Thrones

Warning: This posts contains spoilers for the "Game of Thrones" episode "Book of the Stranger."

On the most recent episode of "Game of Thrones," entitled "Book of the Stranger," Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) literally burned down the house.

To escape captivity in Vaes Dothrak, Daenerys used her resistance to fire to both kill her captors and win over the remaining Dothraki people, who kneeled down to her as she emerged from the flames unscathed.

The scene, in which Daenerys walks out of a burning building completely naked, was complicated to film. According to Entertainment Weekly, it was shot in two different countries.

Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke Dragons

"It's one of those weird scenes, because it was half shot in Spain, half in Belfast [Northern Ireland]," co-creator David Benioff told EW.

The reason for this unconventional setup was to accommodate Clarke. The part of the scene involving nudity was shot on a "closed set," which productions use for particularly sensitive or private scenes like this one. With some special effects, the two halves of the scene — the other one being the part featuring crowds of the Dothraki — were brought together.

Game of Thrones

"Taking off my clothes is not the easiest thing, but with the magic of the effects, I don't have to do a season 1 and go on a cliff and do it," Clarke said. "I'm in control of it."

She was referring to scenes early on in the show in which she actually had to get naked in front of everyone. One such scene, in which her dragons hatch, mirrors the most recent episode.

"Game of Thrones" continues to be one of the most ambitious television shows out there. In order to bring its sprawling fantasy world to life, the show shoots on location all across the planet, from Iceland to Morocco.

The luxury afforded in shooting this scene is one of the benefits of having a budget of $10 million per episode.

It may seem counter intuitive, but if you're using the #GameofThrones tag to discuss the HBO smash hit series, you're doing yourself a disservice. Shame!

For "Game of Thrones," where every scene, costume detail and spoken line is analyzed and researched, thousands of fans use the obvious #GameofThrones tag to live tweet the show. But many are missing out on the best "Thrones" commentary the internet has to offer. Presenting: #DemThrones

#DemThrones was started by Jamie Broadnax, the creator and managing editor of Black Girl Nerds. The tweets go all the way back to 2012, when the HBO hit was on only its second season. Since then, Black nerds (as if you need to be a nerd to love "Game of Thrones") use #DemThrones to discuss the many twists, turns, and terrors of the fantasy drama in the tag. Users in the tag also discuss social issues, remarking on real world parallels in the show:

Broadnax has spoken about the importance of diversity and black perspectives being a part of "nerd" culture. Speaking to Spark Summit, Broadnax said: "I get tired of seeing TV shows or reading books with characters that share [the same] racial background. There are some exceptions, because I love Game of Thrones (both TV and books) but I don’t want that to be my standard. I want to see characters of all nationalities and also queer characters as well as focusing on body diversity. Not everyone should be model thin. That’s not a reality."

There are a number of Black Twitter offshoots of mainstream tags, including both of AMC's landmark zombie shows "The Walking Dead" and "Fear The Walking Dead" (#demdeadz), Showtime's Victorian horror drama, "Penny Dreadful" (#demdreads), and USA's psychological thriller Mr. Robot (#datrobot), all mixing humorous memes, reactions, and social commentary.

#DemThrones has become so popular that it has been trending the past two Sundays while "Game of Thrones" has aired on the East coast. As Broadnax posted during Sunday's episode, the tag is definitely gaining popularity.

Margaery and Loras Tyrell Game of ThronesWarning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones" including possible events in episodes not yet aired.

The fourth episode of "Game of Thrones" season six aired Sunday, bringing the death, destruction, and nudity most fans have come to expect from the series. Among the many emotionally charged scenes was a look at Margaery and Loras Tyrell — both of whom have been imprisoned by the Faith Militant for a chunk of the past several episodes.

Margaery and Loras' dear grandmother, Olenna "Queen of Thorns" Tyrell, agreed to ally with Cersei Lannister in order to break her grandchildren out of the Faith's prison. For now the plan is to bring the Tyrell army into King's Landing and stop the High Sparrow from parading Margaery through the streets naked.

Whether or not they will succeed is a major question. Tommen has held back from attacking the High Sparrow thus far because he believed it would put Margaery's life in danger. Well, thanks to a behind-the-scenes interview clip, fans no longer need to worry about Margaery's safety for the time being.

Take a look at Natalie Dormer (Margaery) on set:

Margaery Tyrell season six Game of ThronesShe's clearly costumed for a non-prison cell scene. Her hair has been washed and styled, and she's wearing a dress we've never seen on the character before. The turtleneck and long sleeves are a new, modest look for Margaery. Clearly this is Dormer wearing an outfit for a post-prison scene.

So Margaery is definitely making it out of prison and into a new dress. Plus, her hair looks intact. If she was forced to do a "walk of atonement," surely the High Sparrow would have ordered her hair to be shorn just like Cersei's.

But what about Loras? Finn Jones (Loras) is featured in this clip as well — and unlike his sister, he's sporting a new haircut.

Loras Tyrell Game of Thrones Margaery was arrested for lying on her brother's behalf. Loras was arrested for fornicating with a man ("buggery") — perhaps he's the only one who will be forced on a walk of shame. His hair is cut short just like Cersei's, and he's wearing a ragged tunic. This points to him being worse for the wear, whereas Dormer/Margaery looks comfortable and out of harm's way.

As we watch the events unfold in coming episodes, we'll see exactly what transpires to get the Tyrell siblings into these varied states of dress. In the meantime, watch the full clip below for an extended look at their new stylings:
