It's been five years since George R R. Martin published "A Dance with Dragons," the most recent book in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, and fans desperately want to know what's happening in the game of thrones. Just how long does it take to write a book, anyway?

PrinterInks.com put together an infographic of how long it took authors to write their literary masterpieces. George R. R. Martin is definitely on the slower side of things, but let's not forget that it took Victor Hugo 12 years to write "Les Miserables." If only they could write as fast as John Boyne, who wrote "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" in less than three days.

Of course, these books are all different lengths, but Boyne wrote at an average of nearly 100 pages per day. If we go by Martin's rate for "A Game of Thrones," he writes at a rate of less than three pages per day. Let's just hope he speeds it up a bit.
