Art and creativity among the "Game of Thrones" fandom is rampant, with people recreating house sigils in miniature form or posting digital renderings of characters to Instagram.
Now luxury paper product creator Moleskine is releasing a limited edition collection of "Game of Thrones" themed notebooks, designed using silkscreen prints by Levente Szabò.
In conjunction with the notebooks release on April 21, Moleskine partnered with Italian animation studio Dadomani to recreate the opening credit sequence using — you guess it — paper.
The first section of the credits focuses on King's Landing, turning and unfolding like cogs in a machine. The paper version is mesmerizing and seamlessly animated, take a look:
This is what the sequence looks like on the show:
There's a stunning amount of detail in the spinning Lannister sigil which rests at the base of the Red Keep. Check out the precision-cut pattern around the border:
The paper pattern mimics the gilded decoration seen in the original animation during the opening:
The four notebook designs focus on Houses Stark, Lannister, and Targaryen. One features Jon Snow silhouetted against Ghost's regal white head. A second Stark-colored notebook looks like Bran embracing his gray wolf, Summer. For the Lannisters, Tyrion is placed against a bright yellow lion-shaped backdrop. Lastly, Daenerys is framed by a fiery-red dragon for the Targaryen notebook.
"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on April 24 at 9 p.m. EST. You can purchase the notebooks beginning April 21 on Moleskine's official website. Watch the full animated video below.
